Wild Horse Racing

While the entire weekend is as wild as it gets, the Wild Horse Races are where it gets really western!

Wild horse racing is a rodeo event involving three teams of cowboys attempting to saddle and ride wild horses. The event is a nod to the skills of Old West cowboys who had to capture and break wild horses for herding and riding. The horses in wild horse racing are not typically wild but instead are ranch-raised. The horses are released all at once, and each reacts differently to having a rider on its back, which can make the event unpredictable and chaotic. The goal is to be the first team to successfully ride the horse across the finish line or around a barrel.

16 teams will compete in races Friday and Saturday to see who qualifies for the 8-team finals on Sunday, which will feature $12,000 added.

The finals winners receive a Casper Schaffer Finals Championship Buckles sponsored by Bred Red Meats, LLC and Gibbs Ranch.
